An unrepentant rogue discovers danger and unexpected passion when he finally meets the fragile lady he could have wed in this second Distinguished Rogues romance.
Summer 1813
Unrepentant rogue Giles Wexham, Earl of Daventry, wrings pleasure from every moment and likes his carefree life exactly as it is. During his summer retreat to the country, he becomes reluctant host and nursemaid to his former betrothed, a woman he'd thought long dead, a woman Giles had mistaken for a ghost while he found pleasure in another woman's arms.
Unbearable pain and laudanum have kept Lillian Winter apart from society since the accident that ruined her life. She's endured six years of agony at the hands of incompetent practitioners, and longs for an end to her suffering. Finding herself in the Earl of Daventry's care brings surprising relief from her injuries, and a glimpse into the life denied her. Yet as newfound pleasures lower Lilly's resistance to the wicked earl, a long-forgotten danger returns to stalk her.

This was a great read, it kept me up to the wee hours. The hero is all about pleasure (sexual mostly) and is not embarrassed by his rogue status. The heroine is lost in a world of pain and drugged out of her mind. Giles and Lillian (our H n h) were betrothed as children, but after a childhood "accident" leaves Lillian broken the betrothal was broken by her family and Giles was told that she was dead.A story with a difference but also quite sensual had me loving Giles for the way he took care of Lilly and kept me wondering how was the villain going to get to Lilly so he'd be unmasked. I've read 3 novels in this series and loved all three. Give it a try.

Broken Distinguished Rogues Volume 2 Heather Boyd 9780987261960 Books Reviews
Ms. Boyd is a wonderful author who takes the time to build character, settings, and relationships. Nothing is rushed, characters act their age and everything is so well thought out; everything leads to a wonderful conclusion. I have no complaints about these books and plan on purchasing all of them.
Well written story! Interesting tale of rake meets frail but stunning beauty! Good character development and sound background. Look forward to the next story in the series!
It was a good read, even funny, until the last few chapters. Lilly became someone else and so did Giles. It’s like they somewhat switched roles and that thwart the book for me, in the end.
I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the characters very much. The hero and heroine were created as believable beings. It had all the elements required for a good story.
Giles is a womanizer par excellence. He finds willing women everywhere he goes, and indulges himself without restraint. But sometimes as he's pounding inside another woman, he notices a silent wraith watching him. He finds himself yearning for her touch, wishing she were real, and being haunted by her in his dreams.
Lillian was at one time Giles's betrothed, but the betrothal was severed after she suffered a near-fatal accident at the age of fourteen. Giles had heard--from her own mother--that she was dead, but he discovers otherwise one night when her father appears on his doorstep with a near-comatose Lilly in his arms, and demands that Giles watch over her for a few weeks until he can make arrangements for her placement in some sort of institution.
Of course, Giles is absolutely the worst person to be put in charge of a beautiful young innocent, invalid or not. But he cannot avoid the duty, and once he has weaned her off the large doses of laudanum that kept her an invalid, he discovers that she is a charming young lady. A dangerous one, too, since she evokes feelings in him that he never thought to have for any woman. Protectiveness, yes. But he wants her as a man wants a woman, and she deserves much better than him.
Once free from the mind-numbing drugs, Lillian becomes aware of life again. It doesn't take much for her to fall for Giles, but she knows she's too fragile to be the woman for him. . . and she knows for a fact that he takes pleasure in many, many women. But how can she manage to live her life without him? Her mother wants her dead, her father loves her but is clueless about her needs, and her cousin who is his heir does not wish her well.
We will also meet the hero of the next installment Charity (The Distinguished Rogues ~ Book 3), who plays a significant part in the resolution of the plot. I really liked both Giles and Lilly and wanted to slap the father for his idiocy, but the most aggravation came from the fact that the mother who wished her daughter dead was still alive.
Frankly, I wasn't sure I would like a book where the heroine was an invalid, so I procrastinated reading it until I recognized these characters in the third book and was intrigued enough by them to look it up on my . I'm so glad I did! Ms. Boyd has a way of drawing you in when you least expect it. I look forward to reading more!
Having read the first book of this series, I wasn't surprised at how the two main characters , the hero and the heroine, interacted. Their push-pull of attraction and their resultant inner turmoil, was very similar to the first book. But, the author has again created two delightful characters. Very unique, in fact. And it is their uniqueness and some of the many details that the author adds to the story which make it entertaining and very readable. One thing I found amazing was the amount of kissing that goes on before actual sex.
At first I was a little Leary about reading this book the title broken had me thinking it's going to be sad I was very wrong it was a wonderful wonderful warm book it really was I enjoyed it thoroughly the characters in the book The main characters and a few sub characters we're all well written well-defined and at times they were very funny it was a warm book but a light-hearted book it's hard to describe you really have to buy the book and read it to know what I mean. I couldn't put the book down until I finished and I just loved Giles he was easy to fall in love with he really was I really enjoyed this book so much I'd give it more than five stars if I could I truly tell you to buy the book I loved it I can't say enough about it. Buy the book it was awesome Heather Boyd is always awesome thank you Miss Boyd you really make me happy reading your books
